RE5 to have collector's edition at 89.99$
  Sat 19 Jul 2008, 4:39 AM by A-J

An interesting tidbit was revealed from Capcom's E3 briefing on Monday which was overlooked. Gaming Bits has the details.

Resident Evil 5 Release Date and Collector's Edition Priced Mark your calendar for Friday the 13th, March 2009. A fitting, and worldwide, release date for Resident Evil 5. Capcom is promising that it will be the "hardest and scariest" Resident Evil yet. The best looking too. Lines were long at Capcom's E3 meeting room for a hands-on play of it. It was the longest wait for gameplay time that I had seen at the show. The game was also given a prominent showing during Microsoft's Xbox 360 media briefing on Monday.

Capcom noted that a collector's edition will be released, although specific contents are unknown. You can expect to pay $89.99 for the collector's edition. Resident Evil 5 will be released on the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3.

Headline speaks for itself!

While we've been feasting our eyes on juicy news such as Dead Rising Wii, Degeneration US website opening, Resident Evil 5 footage and so forth... there was this one tiny thing that seems to've somewhat passed under the front-page radar. And it's more Lost Planet!

So yes, there you have it:
Lost Planet is getting the Hollywood treatment.
And there appears to be some big names involved! (David Hayter, Warner Brothers, Capcom, Avi and Ari Arad and Steven Paul)
Anyway, enough derailing news babble!

You should now direct your attention here: Lost Planet Movie Confirmed
and evt. in this direction too:

Japanese Dead Rising Wii Site Opens, Screens
  Fri 18 Jul 2008, 7:20 AM by Dot50Cal

The official site for the Dead Rising port on the Nintendo Wii was just opened. The site doesn't contain very much, but it does have some screenshots. The gameplay ones look a bit bad, with only about 20 zombies appearing on screen at one time. They are also quite low poly. Probably the most interesting thing on the site is the fact that its slated to come out in winter of 2008.

Resident Evil 5 Videos on THIA, US Degeneration Site Online
  Thu 17 Jul 2008, 5:35 PM by Dot50Cal

Better late than never, we now have all the trailer variations and gameplay videos up on THIA. You can find two gameplay videos featuring Chris going up against the villagers as well as two gameplay videos of Chris and Sheva teaming up against the hordes.

In addition, we have all three "Trailer 6" variations, including the Sony, Microsoft, and Capcom released versions which all feature different introductions. I've also uploaded the Japanese version of the Sony variant, though it doesn't include anything extra besides some Japanese subtitles at the very beginning. Please note that the HD videos should only be run on a dual core or higher CPU. They are very processor intensive, so if you get stuttering or lag in the video, that is why.

stefan2007 let us know that Resident Evil Degeneration now has an English page. They once again confirm that a new trailer will be shown at Comic-Con as well as having the production blog in English now. The trailer they host is the censored version. The story section contains an interesting tidbit on the story for the film:

The "Umbrella Incident" that took place in Raccoon City was ended with the eradication of the deadly virus by a missile attack ordered by the government. As its operations were suspended on a global scale, Umbrella Corporation stock plummeted. This serious blow to the business giant resulted in its complete dissolution.

7 years later, at an airport somewhere in the United States. An ordinary autumn afternoon. One zombie is unleashed into this peaceful scene to attack everyone. In the airport starting to fill up with the undead, the horrific disaster is about to be repeat itself...

Finally, we recently upgraded the forums thanks to some donations from you guys (thank you!). There are some new features, such as friends lists, profile comments, and the ability to make your own picture albums. Be sure to check out your user control panel to check out the changes!

Dead Rising Comes to Wii
  Wed 16 Jul 2008, 5:22 AM by Dot50Cal

This week's Famitsu had a surprising game announcement. Dead Rising will be coming out for the Nintendo Wii. Its a port of the original game, though it will supposedly feature a more "Resident Evil 4" style combat system. The reason for the port is that Capcom were happy with the sales Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition garnered. Though they say that the title will keep casual gamer needs in mind. It will have waggle controls similar to Resident Evil 4. They cite using motion controls for swinging swords or removing a zombie who is attacking you.

Resident Evil 5's Controls Changing, Screenshots
  Tue 15 Jul 2008, 10:52 PM by Dot50Cal

Jun Takeuchi, while speaking to Kotaku, revealed that at the Tokyo Game Show the controls for Resident Evil 5 may be different. He goes on to say that the team really likes Call of Duty and Gears of War, so a control scheme more in line with those games is possible.

It's possible that a lot of people who play Resident Evil 5 may not have played Resident Evil 4. But they might have played Gears of Wars or Call of Duty. Those are both games that I and our team really, really like. So don't be surprised if at the Tokyo Game Show, the controls are different. For now, we have the control set up for RE4. I'm not confirming or denying anything, but we like to surprise people.
Hopefully there is an option for the good old tank controls for us stubborn veterans.

Heres a heads up for you trailer fanatics; Sony has the "truck crash" version of the trailer on the US PSN now, so if you simply cannot stand Japanese subtitles, go grab it now (or wait til tomorrow when we post it). Finally, better late than never, we have the screenshots which were released with Capcom's press asset packs. They are all in their original resolution, which is a gigantic 2560x1440. You can view them below.

I'll have the three trailer variations (as well as the newly released English "truck" version), along with the four gameplay videos Capcom released up tomorrow sometime, in SD, HD and streaming varieties, so check back for that. Just to clear any confusion up about these trailer variations, it seems Capcom gave one version to both Microsoft and Sony. Sony ended up with the truck one, Microsoft got the Sheva humvee one, and Capcom themselves released a more complete one that focused on the cloaked woman and a new female character in a white dress.
